FAQs Rooms

  • When are check-in and check-out?

    We assure the check-in at 3 pm and kindly ask you to check out before 11 am. If you would like to request an early check-in or late check-out please do not hesitate to contact us prior your arrival.

  • At what time is breakfast going to be served and do I have to book it in advance?

    Breakfast times in the restaurant Port:
    Daily from 6.30 am to 10.30 am

    Breakfast times in the Hafen Diner:
    Mon - Sat: 6:30 am to 11 am, Sun until 12 noon

    There is no need to book your breakfast prior your arrival. We are looking forward to your spontaneous visit. Breakfast is charged at 20 € per person and day. Some packages and rates already include the breakfast costs.

  • Are there any parking facilities?

    Yes, there are a limited number of parking spaces in the courtyard of the hotel and in an adjacent public underground car park. The charge is 18 € for 24 hours. Unfortunately it is not possible to reserve a parking spot in advance. The height and width of the driveway are 1.8 meters.

  • Which room categories offer harbour view?

    By booking directly in the hotel or on the hotel website, we guarantee harbor view in the room category Commander with guaranteed harbor view. In the rooms of the categories commander, lieutenant and captain, the harbor view can be deposited as non-binding request.

  • What is the difference between the traditional and the modern part of the hotel?

    In the traditional house, which is very classic and listed, are the main reception and the rooms of the categories sailor, lieutenant, cabin, commander, commander with harbour view, nautic, tiny class and our family rooms. This part of the building was built in 1862 and is also called old sailor's house.

    A second reception can be found in the so-called residence building, which was built in 1995. In this modern part of the building are the rooms of the categorie captain.

  • How do I book a room?

    Your are welcome to book your room online, via E-Mail at reservierung@hotel-hamburg.de or via telephone dialing +49 (0) 40 31 11 3 70 600.

  • Is complimentary WIFI provided at the hotel?

    Yes, we offer complimentary highspeed internet (4mbits/s). By request, you can choose an upgrade free of charge, which enables you to surf the internet with 12mbits/s for 24 hours. Please type in your 5-digit roomnumber (e.g. 30 000 - 50 000) and your last name to login.

  • Can I bring my dog?

    Yes, you are welcome to spend your stay in our hotel with your dog. Regardless of the size of the dog we charge 20 € per dog per day.

  • Do you have smoking rooms?

    No, since March 2017 we are a non-smoking hotel.

  • Can I cancel my booked room?

    Usually, you can cancel our best flexibal rate until 12 pm on the day of arrival free of charge. For booking, please note that other rates or special dates e.g fairs, harbour birthday, holidays or New Years Eve the cancelation policy may vary.

  • Do prices include taxes?

    Yes, all of our room prices include VAT and the local culture- and tourism-tax. In case you are traveling for business purposes, please be sure to fill out this document and send it to us or bring it with on your arrival, to excempt yourself from taxes.

  • Do I have to give my credit card details for booking?

    In case you do not possess a creditcard, you have the possibility to book via telephone without providing credit card details (not applicable for every category, rate and date). In preference, you can book your room online and use the payment method PayPal.

  • What are the opening hours?

    We look forward to your visit from Mondays to Sundays from 6 pm to 2 am.

  • How do I reserve a table?

    Please reserve exclusively via e-mail at towerbar@hotel-hamburg.de. We kindly ask for your understanding that we can only accept a limited amount of reservations. You are also welcome to visit us without reservation.

  • Is there an age restriction?

    Minors aged between 11 and 16 years are only allowed to enter the bar until 10 pm when accompanied by an adult. Adolescents between the age of 16 and 18 are only permitted to stay in the bar until midnight when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

  • Can I pay by card?

    Yes, you can pay by debit or credit card starting at a minimum amount of 25 €.

  • Are there special offers?

    Yes, our happy hour is daily from 6pm to 7pm.

  • Is the Tower Bar barrier free?

    No, from the 11th floor there are only steps leading to the Tower Bar which is located on the 12th floor.

  • Can I smoke in the bar?

    No smoking is only allowed outside of the building. Please note that this also applies to e-cigarettes.

  • Do you serve food?

    Only drinks and snacks are served at the Tower Bar.

  • Can I make an exclusive booking for the bar?

    Yes, you are welcome to book the Tower Bar exclusively. The request is based to availability. Please contact towerbar@hotel-hamburg.de for your request.

  • Can I validate my parking ticket in the bar?

    No. Please validate your parking ticket at the pay machines in the basement

  • Can I bring my dog?

    We kindly ask you to refrain from bringing your dog, as the environment in the Tower Bar with loud music and numerous guests is not suitable for dog welfare. Alternatively, we can refer you to our Willi's Bierstube at the groundfloor.

  • What are the opening hours?

    We are looking forward to your visit Mondays to Sundays from 12.00 to 23.00 clock.

  • How do I reserve a table?

    Feel free to book your table online, by e-mail at port@hotel-hamburg.de or by phone at +49 (0) 40 31 113 70 400.

  • What kind of cuisine is offered?

    We offer fresh nordic-maritime cuisine.

  • Do you serve special menus?

    Yes, our lunch menu with seasonal dishes changes every two weeks.

    In addition, we regularly offer seasonal menus and our Sunday brunch offer. We kindly ask you to reserve a table in advance.

  • Does the Restaurant Port have parking facilities?

    Yes, there is an adjacent public underground car park at Restaurant Port. The cost is 18 € for 24 hours. A parking reservation in advance is unfortunately not possible. The entry height and width are each 2 meters.

  • Can I reserve a seat next to the window?

    No, but we can provide you with a non-binding request for a window seat.

  • Is there a cake offer?

    Yes, we have a daily cake buffet with homemade tarts and cakes from 3pm to 6pm.

  • Is the Restaurant Port handicapped accessible?

    Yes, the restaurant Port is located on the ground floor and has a disabled toilet.

  • Is there a separate room for events?

    Yes, we have a room for about 50 people, which can be separated from the restaurant.

  • Can I come by with a larger group of people?

    We look forward to your visit together with friends, acquaintances and the whole family. We are happy to accept your group inquiries via e-mail at port@hotel-hamburg.de.

    Please note that we offer a preselected menu instead of à la carte for groups of 16 or more. We want to make sure that we can serve the food to each person at the same time.

  • What are the opening hours?

    We are looking forward to your visit from Mondays to Thursdays from 12.00 o'clock to 21.00 o'clock and Fridays to Saturdays from 12.00 o'clock to 22.00 o'clock. On Sundays the Hafen Diner is closed.

  • How do I reserve a table?

  • Do I have harbour view from the Hafen Diner?

    There is no direct view over the river Elbe, however, you are only a few steps away from the port of Hamburg.

  • Are there special menus and offers?

    Yes, we have a lunch offer which includes a burger, a side dish and a soft drink of your choice for only 11 €. With our all-time special, you get a burger and a cocktail of your choice for just 14.50 € at any time. We also offer regularly changing special burgers.

  • Can I come by with a larger group of people?

    We look forward to your visit together with friends, acquaintances and the whole family. We are happy to accept your group inquiries via e-mail at diner@hotel-hamburg.de.

    Please note that we offer a preselected menu instead of à la carte for groups of 30 persons or more. We want to make sure that we can serve the food to each person at the same time.

  • Do rooms have daylight?

    Yes, each of our meeting rooms has natural light.

  • Can I make an exclusive booking for the bar?

    Yes, you are welcome to book the Tower Bar exclusively. The request is based to availability. Please contact towerbar@hotel-hamburg.de for your request.

  • Where is lunch going to be served?

    We serve lunch in our restaurant Port, in the Hafen Diner or in the foyer of your meeting room, depending on the number of participants in the event.

  • Is WiFi complimentary?

    Yes, we provide you with complimentary high-speed Internet (4Mbits / s). Alternatively, we offer you an upgrade on request (fee required)

  • Are there any parking facilities?

    Yes, there is a public underground car park with 61 parking spaces and another 25 parking spaces in the courtyard of the hotel. The charge is 18 € for 24 hours. Unfortunately it is not possible to reserve a parking spot in advance. The height and width of the driveway are 2 meters.

  • Do prices include taxes?

    Yes, all of our prices include VAT.

  • How do I book a room?

  • Can I inspect the rooms in advance?

    Yes, we are happy to make an appointment for a personal inspection of our rooms. Please send us an E-Mail to veranstaltung@hotel-hamburg.de or give us a call at +49 (0) 40 31 11 3 70 700.

  • How many conference rooms do you have?

    The Hotel Hafen Hamburg has a total of 8 function rooms of various sizes. A combination of different rooms is possible as well.

  • How many people fit in one room?

    Our meeting rooms can accommodate 2 to 400 people. For larger events, we will gladly inform you about a combination of our rooms.

  • Can I send packages to the hotel prior the event?

    Yes, we will gladly accept your package 2 days prior the beginning of your event. Please note down the events name and date on your package.

  • Is there a connection between Hotel Hafen Hamburg and Empire Riverside Hotel?

    Yes, both houses belong to same owner and are managed together. Therefore, we can offer you a combination of both houses for your event in the areas of function room and room. The hotels are only 400 meters apart.
