Hamburg, 13 December 2022
In November it was finally time again. The popular "Leuchtfeuer Teddy" has made an appearance and now sweetens our hotel again. For two years we have been waiting for him and now we are even more excited to celebrate the return of our little helpers together with the Leuchtfeuer Hospice.
We have been working with Leuchtfeuer Hospice right here on St. Pauli for many years. Hamburg Leuchtfeuer accompanies and supports seriously ill and dying people and offers them a special place of protection in their last phases of life. It was founded in 1944 as a non-profit organization and originally grew out of the AIDS aid context. Today Hamburg Leuchtfeuer is a non-profit organization for all. They are known for their professional and innovative work and try to create a changed awareness for sick people in the population.
But what is it about the teddies? In order to improve the quality of life of these very people, Leuchtfeuer Hospice works with donations. Without this support, the work would not be possible. And this is exactly why the Leuchtfeuer Teddys were created 25 years ago. These teddies are traditionally found at the sales booths in the run-up to Christmas and can be purchased at a charity price.
After a break of two years, we had the opportunity again this year to get lots of teddies for a good cause. For this we visited the Leuchtfeuer Hospice in the middle of St. Pauli. We were very happy to finally receive the cute helpers, because they can be found in our rooms next to our baby beds and accompany our little visitors during their stay.
All in all, we can say that we are always happy to give something back. Even a small contribution can make a big difference and that is exactly what we see every year.
„Did you know that each hospice must provide 5% of the daily rate itself? Therefore, hospices are heavily dependent on donations to maintain their work.”
