On 7th January 2025, it was time again: the third Sustainability Day brought together guests, partners and experts to work together on a more sustainable future. This special day was all about responsible action, new ways of thinking and solidarity. In five exciting workshops, participants were able to discover different perspectives on sustainability - from social responsibility to environmental protection and animal welfare.

The workshops offered an impressive range of topics that show how many different approaches there are to living sustainability in society.
Read lessIn their workshop, StraßenBLUES e.V. focussed on the question of how we can better support people in precarious living situations. Together, they discussed how sustainable concepts can help to open up new prospects for homeless people and those affected by poverty and create an inclusive community. The organisation impressively demonstrated how important it is to take on social responsibility and develop long-term solutions to social challenges.
Mehr ErfahrenAnna Manzke, an experienced social worker, provided new insights into the importance of self-determination and participation, especially for people with disabilities. In her workshop, she spoke about the challenges that people with cognitive impairments often face and showed how we as a society can create more inclusion – be it in the world of work or in the personal sphere. An inspiring exchange about an often overlooked dimension of sustainability.
Mehr ErfahrenThe organisation Zeit für Zukunft - Mentoren für Kinder e.V. (Time for the Future - Mentors for Children) showed how important education and personal support are in creating the basis for a sustainable society. For over a decade, the organisation has been arranging sponsorships between adults and children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The workshop illustrated how volunteering not only enriches the lives of the children, but also offers the mentors a valuable perspective.
Mehr ErfahrenHanseatic Help e.V. focussed on the connection between social responsibility and resource-conserving consumption. The workshop dealt with the challenges and opportunities of textile donations and their impact - from collection to distribution. Participants learnt how each individual can make a difference through conscious consumption and targeted donations. Hanseatic Help is a shining example of how practical support can promote sustainable change.
Mehr ErfahrenThe Hamburger Tierschutzverein von 1841 e.V. gave exciting insights into the work of the Süderstraße animal shelter in its workshop. From medical care to rehoming and releasing animals back into the wild – the organisation is highly committed to helping animals in need. The discussion on how animal welfare can also play a greater role in the hotel and catering industry was particularly interesting.
