An unforgettable start to the new year: New Year's Eve 2023/2024

We bid a dignified farewell to 2023 with three festive New Year's Eve celebrations at our hotel. With first-class culinary delights, live music and an impressive view of the fireworks, our guests experienced a New Year that they will remember for a long time to come.

A breath of fresh air in the team: new apprentices in February

At Hotel Hafen Hamburg, we welcome two up-and-coming talents, Rafiatou Ouro-Salim and Erik Hansen, who joined our team of apprentices in February. Our sister hotel, the Empire Riverside Hotel, has also gained new team members: Corvin Augustin, Sua Kim, Mariell Matlik and Nika Voigt have joined the team. We look forward to their energy and passion!

Focus on sustainability: Second Sustainability Day on 8th January 2024

On 8th January 2024, the second Sustainability Day took place at the Empire Riverside Hotel and Hotel Hafen Hamburg. The day offered informative workshops that provided deeper insights into various aspects of sustainability. As a company with around 250 employees, we attach great importance to sustainability and see it as our responsibility to set positive impulses in the industry with small changes.

Living values: Our values workshop

On 13th and 14th February 2024, the shared values of the Hotel Hafen Hamburg and the Empire Riverside Hotel were presented. The values were presented by the department heads, who had developed them on a joint trip in summer 2023. Employees were able to express their opinions and wishes at various value stations and learn more about the development process. This encouraged a sense of togetherness and made new contacts. At the end, there was a small sweet surprise as a thank you.

Delicious spring greeting: Easter jam production on 23rd February

Tradition and indulgence come together: at the end of February, we started making our popular Easter jam, this year with the flavour "strawberry and egg liqueur". This homemade delicacy was very popular with our guests and brought spring into the house in a delicious way.

Hamburg celebrates: 835th harbour birthday

Our hotel was also a hotspot for guests who wanted to experience the city's maritime flair up close during the 835th harbour birthday. Hamburg's 835th Harbour Birthday was celebrated over four days in 2024, from 9th to 12th May. The event offered a colourful harbour mile, free live music and impressive ship parades. Special highlights were the tugboat ballet, the "Elbe in Concert" birthday show and the spectacular fireworks display. AIDA Cruises impressed with a light illumination. Those who wanted the best view of the action could enjoy this from our Tower Bar, with cocktails, great service and a 360° panoramic view of the harbour.

A sweet treat: our French roll cream

A new delicacy has captured the hearts of our guests: our Franzbrötchen cream combines the sweet scent of cinnamon, buttery dough and caramel flavour in a creamy, spreadable texture. Homemade and versatile, it is perfect for any time of year – whether as a wintery treat on waffles or as a summery topping on ice cream.

Celebrating together: summer party and AfterWork

A summer full of highlights culminated in our big summer party and after-work events. Here, the team came together to celebrate life and community. The events fostered team spirit and provided an opportunity to get to know both long-serving and new employees. Our summer party raised a large sum for the KINDsein foundation thanks to a donation bike. We were able to make an impressive contribution thanks to the doubling of the amount by our owner. Special thanks go to our apprentices Leiff and Olivia, who personally handed over the donations. With this campaign, we supported disadvantaged children and their future prospects.

Out and about together: HafenCity Run

The 22nd HafenCity Run took place on 1st June 2024 with 17,200 runners from 508 teams. The 4.5 km course through HafenCity was run in sunny 24-degree weather. The event raised 90,000 euros for Hamburger Abendblatt hilf e.V.. The Empire Riverside Hotel and the Hotel Hafen Hamburg also took part as the "Hospitality" team. A great event for sport and a good cause!

Award-winning work: Social Media Award for customer loyalty

Our dedicated work on social media has paid off! We have received an award for our outstanding customer loyalty. A big thank you to our creative social media team from the marketing department!

Big change: Elbkuppel conversion from June

June marked the start of an exciting chapter for our Elbkuppel. With a lot of passion and planning, we started the modernisation of this iconic event space. A major project that gave us a lot to look forward to.

Even more reinforcement: new trainees in August

We also welcomed new apprentices to our team in August. We look forward to accompanying them on their professional journey!

Completed on time: Elbkuppel in September

After months of intensive work, the time had finally come in September: the Elbkuppel shone in new splendour. Since then, a modern, elegant ambience has been waiting to delight guests.
On 18th October, we celebrated the official opening of the new Elbkuppel. A festive occasion where guests, partners and team members were able to toast this success together.
The first events in the "new" Elbkuppel were a huge success!

Team adventure: Trainee trip to Prague

At the end of October, our apprentinces travelled to Prague with their training coordinator Mr Kapp and our hotel director Mr Ungermann. The trip included a boat trip on the Vltava River, a city tour, including Prague Castle and a visit to the Kafka Museum. After a relaxing last day in Prague, the group returned to Hamburg in the evening.
